If you listen closely....you can actually hear all the sub-groups forming to take Hezbollahs place.
You can't win when YOUR OCCUPYING someone elses Country.
Peoople will FIGHT to the DEATH forever to suspress the Oppressors.
Its in our nature.
Yes, but who are the "Oppressors" they will want to "suppress?" That depends on their perspective. If Lebanon's people see Hesbolah as the "Oppressors," they will fight them and not the Israelis. Capiche?
That wasn't "self-praise." I believe I was quoting you from an earlier post and perhaps a different thread.

From the TV reports that I've gleamed.....the everyday people see Hezballah as Fighting agression & oppression.
The more attacts from Isreal only hardens the resolve.
Its a no win deal.....same as bu$hs ILLEGAL Attacks & OCCUPATION of Iraq.

"Tricky Dicky ..." Now that is reaching back!
"...shouldn't read my posts....they'll just make ya mad." Quite the contrary: Your posts keep me smiling all day!
I'd say you are between a rock and a hard place, but I think a clear Israeli win will mean that you are rid of the Hesbolah militia threat; and it is my strong belief that Israel does not want to do any more damage to Lebanon than is absolutely necessary to ensure their security in the future. I'd guess they would like to work w/ your government after a real peace begins and might even help rebuild your country. Lebanon and Jordan are the closest thing they have to friends in their neighborhood. A decisive Israeli win could be very good for you and your country!
But then what do I know ? ? ?
But the question is can Israel really win? Some say you can never win over a guerilla army. Just now on an interview with Al-Jazira, the leader of Hezbollah denied the Israeli claims about their capability. He said they can still go on for months, and that the 2 soldiers will not be released except as part of a swap.

Quite a predicament!!!
That depends on the objective. It's my belief that none of us really know what's going on, even you SILVER ARROW, though you're right in the thick of it. None of this makes sense on the surface, so it's clear that there is a larger scheme being played out on the part of both sides. We can speculate about it from now 'til doomsday, but we don't really know... So if we do want to speculate, what is the real short-term objective?
If Israel wasn't able to eliminate Hezbollah back when they invaded and occupied large swathes of Lebanese land, why would they be able to now? Like it or not, Hezbollah is an integral part of Lebanese society, and, given that their entire raison d'être is to act as a bulwark against Israeli aggression, recent events only seem to bolster their position.

Exactly, so that isn't really the Israeli objective, though they would have us believe otherwise.
Good question--hellifiknow, the ME isn't my area of expertise. None of this makes any sense to me right now. The one thing I do know, is that PNAC's grand visions for the region are once again being proven to be a fancifully cruel joke.
