Whether he was guilty or not was not up for debate. Can't get around facts.
Whether or not he gets punished is another matter altogether.

And yes, he was a Bush buddy.

From http://www.alternet.org/columnists/story/36930/

"Until he hooked up with the Bushes, Lay was just another mid-level energy trader complaining endlessly about being hemmed in by onerous government regulations and those terrible consumer lawyers who prevent free market hustlers from doing their thing. But after he and his company became top supporters of the Bushes -- eventually giving $3 million in total to various Bush electoral campaigns and the Republican Party -- doors opened for them in a big way. In particular, once Bush the father got rid of key energy industry regulations, Lay was a made man and Enron's fortunes soared."

One article isn't the law, but it was the first thing that came up while googling.
You really don't remember much that you don't want to think about, do you?

Here you go, I can add stupid clip-art visual aids for you as well...

Of course he was a Bush buddy. All politicians love donors to their cause. Fat lot of good it did him. Busted, perp-walked, indicted, tried, convicted. Oh yeah, that Bush connection was a great big help.

Show me a politician who's not upholding to financial backers and I'll show you a lunatic from Texas.

Well, that would come under the heading of punishment in the after-life, now wouldn't it?
