So are you telling us that there non-cement pond does not freeze over/solid?
What ya's got, a 18HP jacuzzi jets hooked to it for flow?
I've seen the rivers here in Iowa with ice over 2' thick.
I can't believe 2' below the frost line is enough.
No it will definitely freeze. I have a large floating defroster that automatically turns on at 32 deg. F. You basically just need to keep an opening at the surface to release gasses from rotting vegetation which will kill the fish. Twin Oase 1.5 hp in-line pumps, 1 for waterfall (Biofalls) through the Purifalls surface skimmer and 1 for bottom drain & bio filter.
There is a guy down the way from me who DID turn an entire acre back yard into a pond, GS. It is stunning.
I digging out my mares now , so fill your tanks up Guage, I'll bet hes got Mermaids in there ! , in fact its such a nice pond I bet he got loads , we'll be diving in mermaid soup before he can set the dogs on us .
