Six-Day War
(Arab-Israeli conflict)
Date: June 5, 1967 – June 10, 1967
Location: Middle East
Result: Israeli victory
Casus belli: Disputed. Syrian supported Fedayeen incursions into Israel. Israeli reprisals in Syrian and Jordanian territory. Naval blockade by Egypt accompanied by a military buildup in the Sinai.
Territory changes: Israel captured the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria.

This time if they hold out, they might be able to stretch it to a week...

What's your point? There is no parallel to that historical event, this time the "Fedayeen" are on their own.

Just that Israel is leaps and bounds ahead of their enemy in terms of weaponry and the skills to use it, that's all.

True, it's harder when the official government doesn't acknowledge its terrorist acts. I don't think anybody is fooled, though.

From the Wiki:
Hamas is a Palestinian Islamist paramilitary organization. It is listed as a terrorist organization by Australia, Canada, the European Union, Israel, and the United States, and is banned in Jordan.

Strangely, I can't find anything on a chemical attack. You would think there would be references to that all over the news.

But, it seems the Palastinians kidnapped an Israeli soldier, Cpl. Gilad Shalit. Israel in turn, arrested many of Hamas's leaders. Wow!

From http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/ne...ntent=w062951A

The Israeli military said 64 Hamas officials, including the deputy prime minister, were arrested in the early-morning raid in the West Bank. In all, eight of Hamas' 23 cabinet ministers and 20 of its 72 legislators were rounded up, Israeli and Palestinian officials said.

...

Palestinians were outraged by the arrests.

"We have no government, we have nothing. They have all been taken," said Saeb Erekat, an ally of the moderate Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas. "This is absolutely unacceptable and we demand their release immediately."

Those guys sure can stir up some good news stories.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Yom Kippur War of 1973. It resulted in the Arab oil embargo (73-74) of all Nations that had supported Israel, in an attempt to force Israel to return territory. At the same time OPEC quadrupled its prices, causing a World recession. We had interest rates of 14-18% on mortgages and bank loans. Depending on an odd or even numbered license plate, cars were allowed to drive on three alternate days a week with a car free Sunday, and pedestrians were walking on the autobahn. Hopefully, it will never happen again.

Of course, at the same time there were tanker trucks dumping gasoline in the U.S. desert. Yes, it happened. Profit to oil men is like blood in the water to sharks.
