Because Saddam did it on a wholesale basis, just complete slaughter. Contrary to the other post his "clip" was substantially faster than the coalition's forces.

It's not like I'm thrilled we're over there, just that however you look at it Hussein is indeed a butchering fool with an apparent (lack of) regard for life that barely extends to his own bloodline. And his suggestion that he be returned to power does little more than demonstrate the little world he's constructed in his own warped mind. After all, once you're puppeted in and then run amok, they cut the strings...so to speak.

We, on the other hand, are outsiders who have overdone it to the point of inspiring a rebellion.

we are also rather random while he knew who his enemies were.. we might have maimed a bunch but it wasn't the right bunch.. that's the difference..

Also, we do a lot of remote killing. When we drop a bomb on a house and leave it to the locals to clean up, there is an impromptu “death to America” rally on the rubble.

Sadam did a lot of face to face intimidation. They kicked down doors (the right doors they were looking for) and pulled people out.

How fast was he killing people per year? Our numbers, I can look up.

Report: 50,000 Iraqi Civilians Dead Since Iraq Invasion

That's a pretty good clip. And that's just civilians.

I hope you don't mean to imply that Americans or coalition forces were responsible for each of those deaths. Then again, it would be typically irresponsible for you to do so.

Interesting that only "democracynow.org" and the LA Times are carrying that story.

This site puts the "maximum" at around 43,000, but also blames every car bomb from the resistance/insurgency on the "US-led military intervention in Iraq" - basically more of the same from the US apologists. Please.

This site doesn't go back as far, but has the count at around 12,000 since April of 2005. Seems like there's a lot of extra bodies to find...but then again, an absence of hard facts never stopped anti-war alarmists or the Times. I wouldn't be suprised if the reporter gets a promotion.

No, you didn't say so. Those Iraqi woke up one day and found themselves dead. We have nothing, absolutely nothing to do with it. We are the good guys, remember?

Very constructive, thank you. I must have missed the news story that cited soldiers acting as human bombs and detonating themselves in marketplaces. Of course, there are also plenty of soldiers who also set off car bombs in city streets - so that the insurgents could claim responsibility for them.

Or are you instead saying that the mystical 50,000 casualty figure doesn't include those who have been killed by non-coalition forces? Wow...it's grim indeed from your view.

So who set the stage for the "terror war"? You are saying there is no culpability or responsibility for those that impose "regime change"?
