It seems to me that the terms “liberal” and “conservative” have been used as simple labels and bare little to no relevance to the ideology they now identify. Conservatives would bring spending down. Conservatives would not start wars on the drop of a hat. Conservatives would not concern themselves with the intimacies of others. Conservatives would believe in integrity, and therefore conservatives would not be so willing to blindly turn their destiny over to a government without expecting accountability.

I am the opposite of whatever ideology has the reigns at this time in history. Whatever you want to call it.

I would also like to see something done about the ratio of CEO salary to worker go down from 268:1 So I am not a conservative either.

That puts me right where I like to be. I never did like the concept of explaining how a person could be pro-life and pro death penalty.
Ohhhh... Did you think I was talking about you? Hell no: I know you're a right-wing wacko too!

J,
After your question yesterday about the Green Party or the Libertarians I went out to their web sites to see how they were doing. Apparently there are TWO green parties. Green and GreenUSA. Green is so paranoid as to write out their email addresses so a bot can't read them. And on the Libetarians, Capt. Obvious reports that the "Republicians and Democrats are Guilty of Politicizing the Iraq War". But at least the Libs did not still have their 2004 platform up on the front page of their site [moldy green?]

After watching news and ESPN late last night I think that NASCAR is the only group that could form a third party and be successful and that REALLY scares me.

"...handbasket"? Is that a reference to "going to hell in a...? I thought you were trying to convince me that you are as conservative as I. Did I misunderstand?

I think I was suggesting that I am neither too conservative nor liberal. Some liberals call me conservatives and conservatives call me liberal which is fun. Considering most of my positions have not changed in years [a few have], I have been able to watch this pendulum swing back and fourth.

Nixon was a reaction to the 60's and a desire to settle everything down.
Carter a reaction to Nixon and the cult of Watergate
Reagan/Bush a reaction to Carter and a weak foreign policy and 16% prime rate
Clinton a reaction to 12 years of Reaganism, Iran/Contra and a resession
Bush a reaction to Clinton's morals

I believe that pendulum is going to come flying by again pretty soon. And yes on the Handbasket.
