A half ounce of relatively pure cocaine can be altered to realize an enviable return.
Seriously, pennystocks are fun and a great way to learn the ins and outs of the game.

Haven't touched it for about 9 years.

My nose resembles that of Lee Marvin's in Cat Ballou.

W/ just $1k I'd buy a "high-intrest" CD and forget about it until you get at least $5 or $10k. Then buy some ETFs.

I do some lite day trading. I just made about $400 on one PUT today. The PUT cost me $460.00. Go open an account with OptionExpress and learn how to buy/sell options.

start a roth IRA then you can keep adding to it as your income allows

the great thing about a roth is the gov't can't touch it (non-taxable)
you get a decent % rate off it too
so when ever you have some extra $$ before you file, stick it in one of those

i've had one ever since i had a paper route when i was 13 lol (and that money is just growing)

OR

you could take the 1k find a dealer friend and go to the auto auction buy one or two cars and resell them, then repeat the process

That's a dangerous suggestion for an inexperienced "trader." Be very careful if you try options trading! I would not recommend it for you. A ROTH IRA is always a good suggestion, if you qualify, but you still have to decide what to put your 1k into...
