Jason apparently had a congenital heart condition...

He regularly posted on a UK forum called Heartline Association (http://www.heartline.org.uk). Seems he's had heart surgery back in 1986, was on chronic medication for it and was going in for another operation on April 3d.

Unfortunately, I think it's 100%...

"The only thing is I was planning a sponsered 4x4 trial with my local club but have been told I won't be able to do it for 6 months, so looks like I'll have to wait till next season".

He seems to have been an extremely nice person, but with serious health issues.

************************************************** ************

I'm under Glenfield and my consultant is Dr. Bu'lock. I'm about to go under the knife in March. My last surgery was in 1986 so obviously I'm a little anxious, but I'm also looking forward to it because I'm told it could greatly improve my condition as did the one in ’86.

Knowing what my parents must have gone through, and still do, when I was a kid I'd like to give a little something back. I'm a member of Glenfields Heartlink and do various toy runs around Easter and Christmas.

Not too gened up on the technical side of my condition but the main things are Dextrocardia (wrong side), I have Polycythaemia (too many red blood cells), the upper chambers of my heart are 'under developed' causing Atrial fibrillation (abnormal rhythm of the heart) and occasional Supraventricular Tachycardia (fast heart rate - all time best/worse was 240 @ rest ) and Haemoptysis.

Basically my hearts on the wrong side and my plumbing’s a bit mixed up.

Sad news indeed, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

This has happened on several occasions on different forums that I use and even though I never know them personally it still comes as a shock. You still connect with people even though it’s the written word and not on a social basis. Rest in peace.

I have not been a member of this forum for very long, but heckflosse was kind enough to lend his advise several times. He came across as an open minded and kind individual. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I have received this email from Jackie, Jason's sister, and she is
happy for me to post it on here.

Thank you for your email, I have read some of the comments and people
were asking what happened. I would like to thank people for there
kind words which I will take a copy for my parents.

Jason was born with a congenital heart problem, he had an operation
20 years and lead a relatively normal life only taking aspirin daily
to thin his blood, few people really new.

February last year he was rushed in to hospital, Derby and was there
for a few weeks and for the last 12 months was on alot of medication
and felt ill. He went in for a planned operation 9 weeks ago at
Glenfield hospital in Leicester, it was major operation, he new the
risks and really didn't have a lot of choice. I never dreamt this
would have happened and thought they would have sorted him out.

The operation was a success however he was only on the ward a few
days and spent 8 weeks in hospital with the majority of the time in
intensive care and perhaps half of that time unconscious. Jason
caught a blood virus and had a chest infection and was having
difficulty breathing, he was on a ventilator, kidney machine etc.

He sadly died of heart failure (one of the causes) on Tuesday 30th
May 2006, aged 36 years.

I am happy for you to post this email on your forum - Thank you !

Jackie (Jasons sister)

Awww, man. To have basically overcome the congenital heart defect and then to acquire septicemia--that's just awful.

I never really conversed with him, but his posts were everywhere here--he was always helpful and funny. I'll miss him.
