Ignorance of history leads to the idea that the situation in Iraq is somehow unprecedented. No doubt, you will continue that faithful belief.
Nothing you have said refutes the fact that Nazi loyalists...much like Baathists in Iraq...continued to fight after "major ground offenses' ended.
As far as the FACT that the left in this country openly embraced the USSR...you have said even less. Ever hear of Phil Donohue? Vladamir Posner? The "sky-bridge"?
The left in the US was a tool of Pravda, much as you undoubtably find more "truth" from Al JaZeera than Fox News.
Your story has no legs. I can drag out more stories of GI's abusing Germans (in Munich as late as the 1960s German taxi drivers were routinely murdered a few kilometers from the destination by GI's who would rather kill the driver than pay him) and back them up with records of trials than you can come up with real reports about "Were-Wolves" running around after the war ended.
Your problem is context. The Iraqi "insurgency" kills more people every day than your article purports were killed by all the "Were-Wolves" in post WWII Germany. Yet you propped it up as an equal event. And all the purported "Were-Wolves" activity ended shortly after WWII ended. Yet the Iraqi "insurgency" drags on and on.
I lived in post WWII Germany from the late 1950's to 1970. There were still Germans, usually old widows of formerly powerful German industrial or other landowning families, who were bitter. Because there were no men left in the families. Because the occupying forces moved into their properties and moved them out, if they desired. Overall though, the Germans were very grateful for our presence. The post war economic boom was nearly universally acknowledged to be the result of being occupied by Americans and not Russians, and, we were the only thing holding the Russians back.
DBP has these facts correct and yours are tainted with your rightwing outlook. As for the visit to your school by Commie sympathizers, well, bitch out your school board if it bothers you. This is America, and the fact that you could have such a visit speaks volumes. The fact that you would have preferred to squash that visit speaks volumes about your outlook. You might have been more comfortable as a peon in the Nazi regime that spawned those Were-Wolves you dream about.
Being an American I find the news from Al-Jezeera much more valuable than the spew of intolerant neo-Nazi bile from most of Fox News. I can find real news from many places. The outlook from Fox is meaningless to me, as it sheds no real new perspective on any event. The reports by Al-Jezeera, while not to be taken with any more presumption of truth about what actually happened, does shed some light on how the people we are "bringing democracy to" and their neighbors view our activities. That aspect of the Al-Jezeera broadcast, the view of the native people about the events and circumstances in the ME, is likely reasonably accurate, and therefore of value, whether I like it or not.
