Light can be used as a kind of fossil for dating the Universe as millions of years old as well.
If you go outside and look up tonight after dark, you will see proof of the Universe's being older than 3,500 years. The starlight that your eyes gather originated from stars which are millions of light years away, and that means that the light has traveled for millions of years at the speed of light.
Or are you suggesting that the stars are actually pinholes in the curtain of night, and they were drawn just the way they are because that is the way that He wanted them?
Or maybe you think that God created everything all at once, and in preparation for our arrival on the sixth day, He created photon paths from all the stars to the earth and then pressed "play" just because He wants to entertain us?
