Can the war in Iraq still be won?

BBC analysts regard the publicizing of the alleged Haditha and other incidents as a tipping point, making it doubtful the war in Iraq can still be won. Teutone

Folks have been identifying tipping points since before the invasion.

Remember about 2 days into the initial invasion when the retired military genius, Wesley Clark on CNN, said that the invasion had stalled because of lack of a supply chain?

the concept of "tipping point" is interesting but illusory. It is only apparent in history and even then, historians argue about such things, ad nauseum.

I vote "tipping point" = phrase of the season.

Abu Gharaib was also a " tipping point ". As was the capture of Saddam, etc., etc. Anytime the war does not go as planned ( no war ever does ) for better or worse, the phrase " tipping point " is trotted out. In this particular case, it simply gives the defeatists and news organizations something to get their teeth into. As bot noted, the historians argue about tipping points ad nauseum and they have the advantage of hindsight.

The war w/ Iraq was won in the first few days. The war on terrorism, however, will continue there and elsewhere for many years to come. And it is much better waged there than here.

And we WILL win it!

EXACTLY! Just like in 1984, with Big Brother fighting "The Enemy". It will never end if they have their way.

Their mission was accomplished a few days after invasion, true. They now have control over the oil wells.

Touched up photographs is the best you can do to validate an illegitimate war. Great. Thanks.

I thought the official word on the subject was "Iraqi Freedom". I'll say it again. Screw the Iraqis. Iraqi freedom is worth plenty of Iraqi blood, but NO AMERICAN BLOOD. We shouldn't be there. That's their job, their responsibilty, their duty, their home.

War on terrorism? WE ARE THE TERRORISTS THERE!
There were no terrorists, no WMD's, no nothing until we got there.

Do I need to say it again?
