Road rage - allow me to vent

Somebody wanted to run me off the road today. First he cut me off, and this was on the freeway (91E, nowhere near LA!). And mind you, this was no simple swerving, but an intentional cut off. I guess he drove to the point that I got into his blind spot, and proceeded to swerve lanes. But this realization only came after.

Anyway, I honked at him, both my dad and I "scolded" him. It was obvious, he was at fault. But he did not want to get his ego bruised, so he got pissed off, gave me the finger. I just let that pass so I just tried to move forward but he seemed to want to get in the lane I was merging into, and was forced to move behind me. So I kept moving and switched to the rightmost lane, so I could slow down and let him pass (there was traffic around us).

But no, he kept on my tail and wanted to really smell my diesel exhaust. So I slowed down to 60/55mph to force him to pass (what can I do?). So he got the message and passed me, BUT he immediately cut me off into my lane and braked in front of me--to show me he's the boss. He braked so hard I saw his car swerving left and right while the nose dove down. I knew he was going to do that so I prepared by already braking when he passed me, angrily.

Instead of staying behind I passed him to avoid any more confrontation, and the fact that he might just stop dead and let me slam into him. But no, he proceeded to cut me off again while I was to his left and this was near the Beach Blvd/Brookhurst exit. I just slowed down and let him speed away.

The two times he passed me inches from my bumper could have led to him spinning out should his rear bumper touch my front. It was like he imposed a near PIT maneuver on himself because I was just driving straight. You could tell he did not want to give in and still wanted to have the last word, but he couldn't because he was clearly wrong and we were in the right lane, trying to avoid any more confrontation. He was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It was a gold/silver Dodge Stratus/Intrepid. If anybody saw this, kindly let me know. There was a good amount of traffic and people saw this, but my dad was on the phone and I was too focused on avoiding any confrontation so I did not take his license plate down.

There are way too many angry people driving on the freeways. A few years ago, someone shot at me on the 710 Fwy. Thankfully it was with a small caliber like a 22 that only dinged my door, and I since adopted what I call my mellow post cannabis driving style ( minus cannabis ). I have outgrown all those testosterone fueled peeing contest when I was a teenager. But still, a few weeks ago some guy that appeared to be blitzed out of his mind on something repeatedly tried his best to push me off the road, or at least crash into me for no reason at all. I called 911, pulled over to the right and let him go. This happened on a Sunday afternoon with little traffic. I guess in such a situation expressions like rational, reason or logic do not really apply. Perhaps some individuals just occupy a different place on the evolutionary ladder. Cheerio, Teutone (aka Horst K)

"I am the lord Humongous, ruler of the wastland"

I loved the original Mad Max. Some of it was filmed down the road from here.

He didn't show you who's boss, he showed you who's a complete tool

I agree.... looks like every time the gas rpices inch up a little bit more, there are many
folks priced out of their pickups etc and so they go "kick some ass" as long as they can.
At least that's the only way I can understand the rise in road rage over the first 6 months of this year here in SoCal.

Looks like an awful lot of dudes in some loser-pimped pickups are on some kind of a hunt for Benzes or something. Over and over again you seem them appearing from nowhere, angry, ready to kill and going after the next best Benz on the Highway.
Strange, strange, strange.... Smiling while letting those animals pass used to help, but for some reason that does not seem to work anymore - they apparently are not satisfied unless their "enemy" is off the road in one way or the other.

Anybody got some nice NRA stickers that arrange nicely with the star ?

Summer's coming, too. As if the hotheads need more heat. I feel fortunate that road rage doesn't happen much here. When I'm travelling, I can usually tell by the style of driving who the morons are, so I give 'em a wide berth.

Glad nothing bad ( except for a spike in blood pressure, maybe ) came from your experience with the goon.

While that may be feasible on the extreme end, he's not worth my time.
