Californians....Democratic Gubernatorial Primary

I'm getting to the point I think all political ads should be banned from television. Televise debates, sure, but all the TV ads do is demonstrate who has the most money to burn. Case in point: Steve Westley vs. Phil Angelides...the differences between them are minimal, but they're spending millions to convince the vacuum-tube morons to vote one way or the other.

The latest Phil ad has different groups that are backing him; in one an actress playing a teacher stands in front of kids playing students on a soundstage playing a classroom, she says "only Phil has a credible plan to fully fund our schools", thus implying Stevie-boy doesn't. The next group is police and firefighters, and a guy in blue (can't tell whether he's supposed to be PD or FD) is holding a young girl, says "Because Phil cares about my daughter's future." Give me a break!! What brain-dead moron approved that nonsense? Does anyone really think Stevie doesn't care about the guy's daughter's future? It's just so moronic.

In truth Steve and Phil both have some good ideas, but playing to the 30-second sound bite is horrendously bad, not only for the electorate, but also to the party and the government generally.

Ahem. I'll step off my soapbox now.

Seriously, what the heck is to be gained by such mind-numbing ads?

Campaign Ads are here to stay. Soon, they'll be on your PC screen, popping up like a vermin, fed from cookies planted in your pc as you browse various news websites.
The solution, if there is one, is for you to use your remote control and change channel.

Mi$ter Right.
