that's bs too. this has nothing to do with racism. it's about breaking the law. you seem to be pulling a straw man on this yourself. misdirection if you will. ha
It is racism. For some reason, the right wing in this nation has always needed a scapegoat group - blacks, Indians, Irish, there always seems to be some group that they feel they can get away with heaping derision on. It's always the group that has the littlest protection of our laws - Jim Crow blacks, homosexuals, each group has become unfashionable to bash, so who's left? Our janitors. They can't vote, they fear the police, they are easily shit upon. With the "illegals", it's even more despicable, because the business lobby has found it has a vested interest in keeping the rednecks riled up - it's all a system, really, or better yet, a scam.
What's the real truth about these people? Are they criminals, as the moniker "illegal" is meant to infer? Today I heard that vicious fascist Laura Ingrahm refer to them as "felons who haven't been arrested yet". What picture is that meant to paint of these people? I have known these people, and known them well. For the most part, they are simple, simple people - people who face things in their own country that we fat-assed lazy, pampered American whiners could not even contemplate facing. Consider this piece of triva as an example: over one million people live in the garbage dump of Mexico City. They raise their children, they forage for their food, they make their living by living in the refuse of a poor nation. In the rest of Mexico, if they can get a job, it pays $4 a day. I will never forget a conversation I had with a Mexican laborer when I was working construction in my twenties - back in Mexico, he worked on a ranch, and was paid one chicken a day. His wife and four children had to live on that. He sold a couple and split the other three with his wife and four kids, who spent their day trying to grow beans in the desert. What kind of human being would call a man who had done what he had to do to save his wife and kids from that, a "criminal"? What would you call a man who did not wish to watch his children starve? A criminal? For Christ's fucking sake, that is cruel. It is inhuman. This is the world these people come from. To all you holier-than-thou preachers of illegality, I say, go do some volunteer work at places that try to help these people. Go find out what it feels like to have a sea of human misery wash over you. Go see what a family looks like when the parents have been shipped back to Mexico in a green bus, leaving behind kids who disappear into the foster system. Go see what it looks like to see people who only get to see a doctor when they are so sick they are going to die. Go see what these people look like when they come up from Mexico - dirty and starving, with hungry kids wearing rags for clothes. Then tell me how many "criminals" you saw.
The reason for all of this is so simple. American is an easy place to work for slave wages. The politicians are all bribed by the business lobby, and the business lobby wants these people here. They could care less if these people are "legal" or "illegal" - what they do care about is maintaining a cruel and corrupt system of "illegality" that they profit from by the billions - a system of human misery that is utterly despicable. They have a huge vested interest in making these people the focus of the wrath of the American people, because they know they are getting away with murder as long as it all works this way. And the solution is so simple too - place heavy penalities on those who employ these people, so they stay in their own country and solve their own problems. The ones that are here, should be allowed to stay if they have jobs. Afterall, we gave them the jobs, they didn't "steal" them from us. There are only two real alternatives to deal with it - you either start throwing employers into prison, and I mean real prison doing serious time, or we annex Mexico so these people can participate in our democracy instead of being our slaves. As long as the employer's continue to be able to hire them, all the fences in the world won't stop it - they will just find another way to get here, or they will be replaced by Chinese or Haitians.
