You would not like working in one of the Admin. agencies. Not only is it work it is a lot of political infighting and back-stabbing. The only place in Admin. agencies you might enjoy is the Congressional Liaison office in any of the agencies. You will spend a lot of time on The Hill, and you will be supporting a conservative agenda. That might be fun. But I would say try to get a job on The Hill--anywhere on The Hill. There will be crap there too, but you will feel much more alive over there. The best way to get hooked-up over there is to have someone in your Congressman's office or one of your Senator's help you out. They are usually very helpful to constituents and have lots of contacts. You especially want to hit Republican offices and contacts. They can also help to introduce you to key people in the agencies. The agencies will depend on their committee assignments, but you can figure that out. Get a copy of the Congressional Yellow Book or Almanac of American Politics to help you "select" who you want to approach, and how best to approach them.
