RE: Gas: Regular or Premium?
I put nothing but premium in both my 560 SEL, and my S500. My 560 I believe, can take 89 as well, but I don't wanna do that, cuz it doesn't ride very well when I do that, but my S500 Clearly says that all it can take is premium.
So, I use Premium for both.[8D]

we have nothing lower than 95! we even get 101 in some places, although it is rare, we can get it
personally, i prefer the lower 95.
im not supposed to be able to tell as my car isnt the injected model, but to me, the 95 feels pokier than 97 or above.
although 97 feels smoother, it lacks the grunt for some reason

The reason there is a disparity between US and UK octane ratings is that the values are calculated using different formulae,Motor Octane number (MON) and Reasearch octane number (RON) respectively. The actual difference in resistance to detonation (higher octane number) grade for grade are small despite the difference in the quoted numbers. The calorific value of all gasolines (energy available) is relatively constant, irrespective of octane rating.
With the bulk nature of fuels, from an economics perspective, there is an enormous incentive on the part of the oil companies to try to gain brand loyalty and market a 'value added' product. One does not however need to be a rocket scientist to work out the implications of this.[;)]
