RE: Hertz Offers Modified Mustang
I'm paying $39 a day at Avis, get my choice between a Mustang or a standard 4 door. When the Mustang isn't available, I've been driving the Malibu Classic, I find the seats really comfortable for long distance driving and the performance is the best out of all the full size, better than the Monte Carlo even, which I think is a slow gas pig. I have come to really dislike the Chrysler products because they are bad on gas and if you step on the gas they just kind of sit there, and the Ford standard size cars are atrocious. Their seats are like sitting in a wooden church pew. I cover a lot of long distances out West so I am more interested in drivability, performance, a comfortable driver's seat, good stereo and gas mileage than I am in roominess. So far the Mustang meets all of those needs - the stock stereo is awesome, if I want the thing to haul ass it gets up and goes, and if I take it easy it gets good gas mileage and is comfortable on a long drive. I may actually buy one.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
