It's a weird feeling to experience a quake,isn't it?
I felt a couple in Los Angeles, the biggest being in October '87.When the shaking stopped,I ventured into the dining area of our apartment and the ceiling light was swinging in a huge arc on it's chain, but nothing seemed too badly damaged since it was an almost new building. Then on the 31st there was a huge rainstorm and the whole building filled up with water!

Today in History

Mar 27 1964
One of the largest quakes in US history strikes southeast of Anchorage, Alaska, hitting 8.6 (subsequently adjusted to 9.2) on the richter scale. 118 people are killed, and a tidal wave destroys four square blocks of Anchorage. The control tower at the airport, 60 feet high, snapped. Damage in the state is estimated at $500 million.

RE: Damn Earthquakes Here in Alaska

You call 2.7 or 2.9 somewhere in the mountains earthquake????
I don't even slow down unless it is 3.5 -1 mile from my house.
We got few of those this winter.
Still waiting for a big one, that would convert my mountain, CA property into Hawaiian beach-front [8D]
