RE: How can I remove Real Player?
Congrats on wanting to remove one of the most pervasive pieces of spyware on the planet.
Removal, as you've seen, can be very tricky and is in part dependent upon the version/rev of real player and your version of XP and installed patches and service packs.
The starting point is google, search for "removing real player" and review those links. You'll see how pervasive this trash program is.
I can tell you that the removal often involves deleting things from system folders and hacking the registry as well; either of which, if screwed up, may turn your computer into a doorstop until the disk is formatted and everything reinstalled. In short, it's not for the faint of heart.
If that doesn't sound like something you want to play with, then depending on where you're located, you may be able to find someone who will go through your PC and pull RP off as well as other spyware for $50 or $75, general cleanup kind of thing.
