Crappy VW ads

Depending on where you are in the US you may not get these ads but in the bay area they've added two new ones, both for the GTI.

One features this older German in a lab coat doing a spoof of "rap" styling, both in speech and mannerisms.

The other features this odd, evil-looking black roundish doll that is "your fast" and chants evil sounds and things to the owner/driver. Then the narrator tells you to "obey your fast."

They're both stunningly stupid and I'm trying to figure out how stupid an ad has to get before even VW won't try it. [;)][:)]

I have to disagree with you, I think that the white labcoat and white mini skirt actor ads are the funniest ads on TV. Any commercial that mocks the rice rocket culture is A+ in my book, not to mention the fact that his accent laden speech is a comical combination with youthful phrases such as "drop it like it's hot" or "representing Deutchland". I have seen these ads a number of times and continue to LOL.

I am making a wild guess, but you are most likely not a member of the target age group that they are shooting for. I think they are a bullseye. Some of you who have seen "The Big Lebowski" may recognize this guy as one of the nihilists that continually pester "the Dude".

HAHA, the one where they crush the riced out focus was just on TV! Lol, that one is great!

Yes!!! Just watch one episode of Pimp My Ride and you'll get the joke. I like the ad campaign, the My Fast ones are a little lame. I also love the new MB commercial. The " build 'em paint 'em sell 'em drive 'em etc." one. Less stodgy.

I LOVED The Big Lebowski. ("See what happens, Larry!?!!? Do you see what happens when you *** a stranger up the ***?!?!??!")

But we'll have to agree to disagree on the ads.

However I will admit I like the girl in the mini-skirt. [:)] She's the only reason I don't immediately change the channel.

I suppose I generally don't like VW ads because their cars seem to be piloted by the worst drivers. For example around here they make up very little of the automotive population (you see more MBZs than VWs by a pretty healthy margin) but dumba** boneheaded moves are committed disproportionately to every other make. Maybe that's just part of the demographic, too, eh?[;)]

I actually kind of like the old German guy where they trash the crappy 'pimp your ride cars'. They are somewhat amusing.

OH, by all means, I didn't mean to imply that they were better drivers, mearly that atleast they are not jap cars(which are reliable). I know many people that have VW's and are horses asses when it comes to rules of the road, example, all of those younger girls driving jettas with their sunvisors down to inspect their makeup and their other hand holding a cellular mind scrambler most likely with another mindless wonder on the other end endangering drivers on the other side of town.

I am sure their are some bad Benz drivers out there... but the percentage of dumbasses drivng VW's and the like sure seems to be a lot higher.[xx(]

But, like others have noted, if you watch pimp my ride, you will really understand these ads, I am part of this age demographic (sadly) and i love when people appropriately make fun of these trends that are so tasteless
