Which place has the craziest drivers?

Someone just told me via PM that Detroit has crazy drivers. I never suspected that, but then I never went to Detroit to see for myself, either. Most people think the craziest drivers are wherever they themselves are. Maybe they're right!

After several years in NYC, I spent awhile in LA. My take on it then was: Southern California drivers are just as daring as New Yorkers, only they do it with more skill. Hmm.

Meanwhile, after driving in NYC, I wasn't impressed with the legendary traffic in Rome one bit. Hell, it was fun! The third world, OTOH, that's another matter. You really take your life in your hands there. [:0]

RE: Which place has the craziest drivers?

Chicago has some pretty crazy drivers. There's always people swerving in and out of lanes on the freeway at triple digit speeds during rush hour traffic.[xx(]

LA on the other hand, always has traffic jams, so it'd be pretty hard to be a reckless driver.

ha... that sounds like LA actually. There are two speeds on LA freeways, too: 5 and 85.

No U.S. city can match Phoenix in that regard, not that any would want to. Chicago drivers seem to be on Thorazine in comparison...

RE: Which place has the craziest drivers?

Of the places I've been/lived, Colorado has really bad ones. And I mean bad, not just crazy, so maybe that's a different poll. Yes, worse than the bay area where I currently live.

That said, I haven't been to about a third of the places initially listed, so I'll reserve judgment, but I'll toss in CO just for fun. (I still love the state, though.)

RE: Which place has the craziest drivers?

About a fourth of the drivers in Phoenix don't even licenses, let alone insurance. I recall an early morning news story not too long ago, which concerned a head-on collision in a busy intersection during morning rush hour. The drivers were apparently OK, since they both fled the scene on foot. [:D]
