Should cell phone use be illegal while driving?

In the District of Columbia, where I spend too much time, cell phone use while driving is now illegal, and of course the law is completely ignored. I'm in favor of the law, and I obey it, but I have to admit there's a wide range of other activities that are just as dangerous, e.g. eating, reading, applying makeup, fiddling with the CD changer, etc, all of which we see all the time.

But the mix of inattentive talkers and aggressive drivers on our roads is truly volatile.

When was it illegal?

When we went down there to visit a friend, he talked on the cell phone while driving.

But are hands-free, Bluetooth cell phones okay?

Apparently, hands-free is legal (doesn't have to be BT) even though studies have shown it's not really safer..

Do ya think he would've been pulled over if he used the cell without the speakerphone?

He was in the S430. The three-pointed star, and the S could've made the cop not pull him over.[:D][:p]
