Favorite Driving Scenario

Road conditions, engine/drivetrain, transmission, forced induction or not, temperature, tires.

I prefer freshly fallen snow, FF with automatic transmission, turbocharged during -5 temperature. For winter I like Michelin X tires, I like how those tires handle the winter.

I find this setup works for me!

Freude am fahren!

RE: Favorite Driving Scenario

Dry as hell roads, RWD manual, preferably with turbocharger, Nice and warm. I was really pleased with the Pirelli P5000 Vizzola's on my 190, and on my 300TD I use continental premiumcontact 2, also extremely good tyres (although especially in wet).

Or:

Idd freshly fallen snow, non turbocharged manual RWD, sun shining, deserted back roads, and oh jeah slide them rear tyres...[8)].

A closely matched competitor and car on a high speed, empty track of dry highway in broad daylight.

RE: Favorite Driving Scenario

A cool fall day on a back road in our '78 MGB with the top down and the heater on high, while watching the leaves scatter across the road in the rearview mirror.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Cruising down in a big American ol’ school or new Lincoln Town Car with bench seat (Caddy DeVille also has a bench seat but it’s not rear-wheel drive). Big block engine with fully leathered interior, rear-wheel drive, automatic transmission located behind a steering wheel, a big dice hanging under the rear-view mirror…

Road condition – light traffic with straight forward highway

It’s gotta be a bench seat on the front. Put in the cruise control and my arms around my girl.

Must admit, one of my best regular drives was down Sunset Blvd to the ocean in my Delta 88 with the topdown. The 455 burbled through the soft bends.I had uprated shocks and springs so it could hustle if I was in the mood. The massive electric front bench was covered in a really striking Royal blue brocatel so it didn't get hot in the sun.

I have some furry dice in my 126.I think they are a worthy addition to any S-Class Benz.

RE: Favorite Driving Scenario

for me it'd be puttering down a gently sloping, windy country road, a beautiful blue sky above, dappled light below.

driving around 45-50mph in the shlomo with a cd of my favorite girls(bjork, tori, annie lennox, natalie merchant and victoria willians) and passing a blunt with someone i adore.

what would make it the best ever is if there were a thrift store and cheap place for lunch on the opposite end of the road.

as for tires, i dont know which ones are good and which ones arent-- i cant afford expensive tires really, with all the other things a 30 year old car asks of its owner... but i have michelin sport somethings on the front from when i bought it, and some bootlegged "douglas" 32.99 specials on the back.

my neon gets the same preferred treatment in servicing, but cheap tires because i spend all my money doing the important stuff[:)]

now in the neon the speeds would change, but the scenario wouldnt, if i raced automobiles, it'd be touring type races, not track races.

hey snips-- any experience with a 2.4 n/a in a neon? would i want to go full sr/t 4 conversion with the turbo, intercooler and all? hes getting tired at 140k, i think i want something big and loud to replace it whilever its still considered a spare engine[:p]

Nope I know nothing of the Neon, except my friend has that insanely modified one that I sent you specs for.

RE: Favorite Driving Scenario

Either:

A. About 6in of new snow in a big empty parking lot, on my oversized winter tires...or

B. Long, dry, open strip of highway with no po-pos. Windows down, sunroof open, 75 degrees about an hour after sunrise, and maybe some CCR or Daniel Powter...

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.
