ok so i was on my way back to school with my 300D 2.5T and i was chit chatting with my friends and i guess i was going 10 MPH over. i turn the corner and see a undercover cop on my ass. pull over he comes up and gves me a fine. the result is 10 over 4 PIONT TICKET and $160 bucks. it took him only 3 minutes to write the damn ticket and literally threw it at me. i could barely read his nadwriting. so i guess the court date was yesterday but i thought it said the 6th. so now my dad is super pist. what i want to know is what would i be able to get the ticket down to
i am 16 this is my first offense and also i live in colorado

thanx all the help i can get would be great

As a guy who has been pulled over 38 times, and ticketed on third of those times, may I just say take defensive driving/deferred adjudication and move on with your life. Try to do these things on your own, if you can't then get a traffic attorney. make sure you keep it off your record.

PS Takes some effort to get a ticket in a diesel. Congrats.
not really, any diesel can go 75[:D]

any diesel can also run red lights, stop signs and not use its blinkers[:p]

the fines may seem silly, but you just have to do it, man. i know all about this silly stuff-- it cost me 465.00 to not use my blinker and forget about court once...

youll learn; eventually, we all will, i hope!

Hey kid, everyone's right, learn to spell or at least learn to use your spell check.

Your problem - Most states offer the chance to go to "drivers class" on your first ticket. If you opt for this, the ticket will not appear on your record, you do not have to pay the fine (you will have to pay the fee for the class). Also... since this ticket is expunged from your record, your insurance company won't find out about it.

Go to class and pay attention! [8)]

Now a few years back I got a ticket from a pedestrian cop for riding my Super Ten the wrong side of a traffic bollard. There was nothing in the other carriageway and my manoeuvre was no more dangerous than making a right turn.So he was just being a horse's arse and delaying someone on their way to work,to earn money,to pay tax to keep him in a job.I was going to ask him if he got picked on at school, but there were so many things illegal about my bike I kept my fucking mouth zipped.

Of course, D_P, he didn't say (ahem, admit) what speed zone he was in when he broke the law. I think we'd all agree that 10 over in a 30-35 zone is a whole lot different than 10 over on the interstate. If the cops were out there doing special enforcement, then my guess is it's a semi-residential area with a lower speed limit and lots of area folks have been complaining about speeders. That's how it often works.

General rule: if you're within 10% of the posted speed limit, you usually won't even get stopped, much less cited. There are exceptions, of course, such as inclement weather or other hazardous conditions, when you can actually be cited for speeding when you're driving UNDER the posted limit, much less a little over. And of course if the officer observes you chit-chatting with friends, talking on the cell phone, changing CDs in the deck and/or smoking a cigarette -- in other words, not paying attention to the road -- then the 10% rule is also out the window and you'll probably be hassled for lots of things when s/he pulls you over.

In any event, as you exceed that 10% "safe zone", you enter the area where you're more likely to be stopped and more-likely-than-not, cited. My work brings me into contact with lots of patrol officers and the majority of them will always cite for 10 over if the speed zone is 45 or lower. Unless you have an excellent excuse, like you're driving someone to the hospital for a critical injury.

If, however, our thread starter's math is as poor as his English, then the 10% rule isn't going to do much for him.[;)][;)]

IMHO and experience, the likelihood of a pig giving you a ticket has more to do with what kind of mood he's in than the circumstances of the 'offence'.We all know that girls can often be let off by turning on the water works.Good luck to them, but it's prejudice none the less. The job that the police are employed to do is so sensitive and crucial to society that they should be ultra critical of their own standards and procedures.

I recall facing a judge years ago for a traffic offense who addressed the entire crowd before calling names: "There are only two plea options, 'guilty' and 'not guilty'. There is no 'guilty, but...'." Despite that concise statement, pretty much everyone proceeded to plea 'guilty, but...' anyways... [B)]

If you did it, you did it. Leave the lame excuses at home -- it is nonsense.
