RE: Bush finally takes to Afghanistan

Bot, I might buy that argument if I hadn't heard your justification for invading Iraq - to make sure the oil flows to the United States from anywhere and everywhere in the ME. Sounds to me like your broader perspective has a half life. Once you figure out what America might need from India, the broader perspective is abandoned for one that substitutes the use of force if the supply of what India, or another nation, has that you want, or a nation near a nation with something you want, is threatened or interrupted.
You doubt that I had studied the history of the region back to Gilgamesh? Sorry dude, I have. My copy of Gilgamesh is to my left, on teh shelf below Durant's "Story of Civilization" which I also have read and often refer to. I do not give a great good goddamn what politicians say. I study the history as best I can and read current events that I can find and understand and use my over-worked, pea-sized brain and come to my own conclusions.
Given what I knew then and know now, we did the right thing. If we did it for the reasons laid-out by the Bush-ites then we did it for the wrong reasons, though I understand why people would find them compelling. They just weren't compelling to me.
Too bad they didn't ask me, huh?
