Funny how they left out the part where 100,000 citizens of New Dehli protested Bush being there and the REAL reason for him being there, that being a contract for India to buy nuclear fuel from us.
Funny how you left out that over 60% of Indians consider the USA a friendly country.

Oh yeah.

Concerning nukes, I'd like to completely disarm of nukes except that it's a nasty world out there and the Chicoms are intent on playing a global role. Other minor non-democratic playahs are in the wings and the Russians are sliding slowly into some sort of autocratic state while trying to have open markets which is an inherently unstable combination.

For the record, I have absolutely no fear of India, France, Britain or Israel engaging in wars of aggression with nukes or of providing nukes to 3rd parties.

The issue is Bush, not how the country is perceived. Shoddy debate tactics are really beneath you. Bush is depised by the whole world, including in this country. He has become a symbol of deceit.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

Maybe you don't really get to define the issues, huh? For example, I very much think that it is more important to see and understand the politics of the local governments first and then try to imagine what role the USA plays in their politics. You prefer to see it through the lens of Bush. Fine with me, go for it. It just makes you one more of that legion of Pat Buchanan Americans who myopically think the world revolves around America.

Bot, I might buy that argument if I hadn't heard your justification for invading Iraq - to make sure the oil flows to the United States from anywhere and everywhere in the ME. Sounds to me like your broader perspective has a half life. Once you figure out what America might need from India, the broader perspective is abandoned for one that substitutes the use of force if the supply of what India, or another nation, has that you want, or a nation near a nation with something you want, is threatened or interrupted.
