RE: "Why Can't We Find Osama?"
Somebody likened the structure of loosely organized terrorist cells as that of a many-headed monster Hydra from Greek mythology where if any of its heads were severed, another would grow in its place.
Whether or not Osama is alive, it really does not matter as the extremism (in this analogy, the rest of Hydra's body) will carry on. For all I know, Osama is just one of the heads of Hydra. Cut the head off, another will surely give rise and provide a new rallying cry.
As the story goes, Hercules, who successfully slayed the monster, did so by cauterizing the wound after severing each neck until he got to the last one, which had to be crushed. The plan for war on terrorism should have taken the similar method - a focused and thorough attack and elimination of major cells until the organization of terrorrists are severely weakened. A broad stroke attack as adopted in reality surely missed the mark - what's Saddam and Iraq got to do with it?
