sleep: how easy is it for you to do?

i just read naos comment on an album of sleepy music and the first thing i thought was:

"if deathrattle has a problem sleeping, he isnt taking enough drugs"

that sort of put me on point. i really do NEED my green christmastree smoke to sleep; without it, i am up till mamas family comes on at 5am! i can only sleep whenever i am absolutely exhausted...

there is simply too much to do sometimes to even think about sleep unless im forced into it.

but on the flip side of that coin, ive also been known to stay in bed for 3 days in a row; some weekends without ever getting up for more than to releive myself and refill my glass with water.

sleeping has always posed quite a problem to me, how do people just go to sleep at 10:30pm and wake up at 5:30am like clockwork? i really cannot understand it!

how long/often do youall sleep? what helps you go to sleep(heh heh) and are any of youall addicted to substances because of crazy natural sleep schedules?

oh yeah-- im not a drinker and if i have a rum coke or cranberry daiquiri, im out like a light. it was really a let down to my ex.

RE: sleep: how easy is it for you to do?

I have an amazing schedule I worked out for my classes this year. I usually go to sleep around 1-2am and I'm up about 9:30-10am. Except on fridays I don't have to wake up until 11:30am. I know, go ahead and hate me [:p]

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Up at 5:45 with pee-pee wood and back to bed by midnight-ish. Never had much respect for sleep. Hedonistic waste of time, I say.

RE: sleep: how easy is it for you to do?

It used to happen every 3 years or so. There is a period in which my sleep schedule was as precise as a clockwork: i.e. out by 11:45pm (right after Carson/Leno or Letterman monologue), up at 6:30am sharp without even relying on the alarm. Such periods existed especially during pre-marriage years and in-between girlfriends when I had total control over my time outside school/work.

To maintain regular sleep schedule, a good balance of physical and mental activity is a must. I remember having some of the best sleep on the night of the first day of classes because my brain was exhausted after having to sit through lectures for a whole day following three months of light mental strain over the summer recess, not to mention having to rush from lecture hall to lecture hall in a vast campus. The worst is when I am physically drained but my brain is active from having had very little use during the day. Even today, I try crossword puzzle every day and revisit trigonometry, calculus and structural engineering from time to time to keep my brain active and nicely tired at the end of the day.

But for the most part, I take the easy way out and this really helps[:P]:

since the birth of my daughter, regular sleep has not happened for obvious reasons.
speaking of which cmitch how are you doing right now? [:D]

RE: sleep: how easy is it for you to do?

my body wakes me up naturally about 10 unless i havent had my illegal aides and was up late, then it can be any time after ive gotten 10 hours.

i cannot survive on little sleep, it makes me seriously mean and crotchety. i couldnt say why i NEED sleep, but i do.

id also get more sleep(and wake earlier) if nick at night ran murphy brown a little earlier than 2am.

Falling asleep easily is a matter of sensing and heeding your own body's natural rhythms and being able to clear your mind. It's a Zen thing...

Not necessary -- unless you're trying to counter the vicodins, of course. [:D]
