RE: Favorite Coffee . . .
Two scoops Sainsbury's Premium, one scoop Tesco Italian roast in a pre-warmed cafetiere, infused for four minutes and poured over one inch of skim warmed until bubbling in the microwave.
I used to be obsessive about coffee.I had several friends who were coffee traders and built up a selection of green beans from around the world totalling about 50-60kg at any given time.I have a little electric roaster and would ritually have a roasting session on Saturday mornings to prepare enough beans for the coming week.
Ethiopian new crop Arabicas roasted until they just begin to 'sweat'(take on that dark glistening appearance) and straight into a grinder whilst hot takes a lot of beating.Indian 'Monsoon'coffee is a rare treat as well. It's a big shame green coffee beans are virtually absent in the shops.
Those TV commercials where a sack is stabbed and brown roasted beans pour out always make me laugh.Only green beans can be transported in jute bags.Once roasted they MUST be stored airtight because they oxidise and lose their volatiles very swiftly.
Anyone tried Civet coffee which has passed through the animal's digestive tract before being collected and roasted?[:p]
