If the man does die the DA will have no choice but to file man slaughter charges. It's really black and white on this issue. You kill someone by accident, even if it is your best friend, you are guilty of manslaughter.

The big question is whether Whittington will make it. The next week or two will tell us how he's doing but given the reports I've seen it looks like Cheney nailed him at almost point blank range.[QUOTE]

Accidental death doesn't automaticaly mean guilty of manslaughter. There were two cases in my area in the last two years and neither were charged. Both cases were turned over to grand jury and they didn't return any charges. But a grand jury will most likely review the case if the guy dies.

And both of those were hunting accidents? I'm sorry but you don't shoot and kill someone, even by accident, and get to go home scott free.

Would Cheney still get secret service protection in prison? If not, I'd bet Bubba would have some fun with Cheney as his cellmate.

If the guy dies and they try and charge Cheney cant President Bush give Cheney a presidential pardon. Remember how Clinton pardoned a bunch of white color folks one that comes to my mind in the guy who was hiding in Switzerland after making some 50 million selling embargoed oil.

Sometimes people are charged, sometimes not.It depends on the circumstances. Both cases you posted showed negligence, one off them was for illegally hunting at night.I was just stating that manslaughter charges are possible but not mandatory.
The family of the guy could really rack up on a civil suit. The Cheney's have a lot of money.Of course they probably don't need money, they are probably loaded.

Is it just me or are there folks gleefully hoping the guy dies just so Cheney can get "his"?[:0]

Cheney was hunting wouth a proper license. Would that be considered negligence? That's assuming none of the multiple eye witnesses say Cheney was under the influence.
