I say it's just good fun.

Like the deal with Quayle was he was stupid.
So when he "corrected" the kid's spelling to "potatoe" we all had fun with it.

The deal with Cheney is that he's evil and vicious.
So when he sprays buckshot in his buddy's face, um, it's fun!

RE: Bush Learned of Shooting Within Three Hours

Heh... turns out Cheney wasn't in possession of a valid hunting license at the time of the shooting!

He hadn't updated it for the current year with the purchase of a required $7 "upland game bird stamp".

Given the number of times Cheney and Bush have held themselves to be above the law in substantive cases,
it's silly to stick this one to him. But stick it they will..

"The violation of Texas game law by Cheney and his victim, Austin lawyer Harry Whittington, was noted on a report filed yesterday with the Parks and Wildlife Department by the sheriff's office of sparsely populated Kenedy County, the only law enforcement agency investigating the shooting."

OK, so reporters are supposed to be told when something happens??!!
Excuse me, I always thought reporters prided themselves on their ability ti dig, and root out a story. They are so used to waiting for the DNC to send them their talking points that they can't find a story when it happens right in front of them. What did the reporter(s) assigned to follow the vice president do? Didn't they notice any kind os strange activity?
The pressi is embarrassed becasue they just didn't do their job, and they are trying to make Bush at fault. amazing.

Actually, yes. That's why there's a Press Secretary and why there are Daily Briefings.

No law required disclosure AFAIK. However suppressing or delaying announcement of anything potentially important always arouses suspicion. In an administration which has repeatedly violated the public trust, even more so.

+1

Yup. It's not that much a big deal on what happened. People got shot everyday. What happens here is people no longer trust this Administration.

I just wish once, instead of being the perpetrator of some monumentally stupid act, Cheney could be the victim.

But repugs always accuse others of acting "victimized" so I guess it's inevitable that they themselves would always be victimizers..

RE: Bush Learned of Shooting Within Three Hours

"Mr. Cheney could be charged with negligence, defined as failing to understand the dangers involved and disregarding them, or recklessness, defined as understanding the dangers and disregarding them."

Ya know, there's something emblematic about these words and phrases. Fascinating that they might apply to a hunting accident and not to national security...
