Multiculturalism is the problem. It removes national identity. I migrated to Australia. When people ask me what nationality i am I reply "Im Aussie". Ask any australian born muslim and 99% will say "Im Leb." or "Im Arab". They dont assimilate. They dont share their new countrys views or beliefs. Its not just the fanatics. The muslim youth of today is almost "born radical". Scary shit, and If i had my way, id change immigration, criminal sentancing and racial villification laws/treason laws immediately.

Cheers,

To what??

Aaron, thats a load of crap. It's nothing to do with 'assimilation'. Those kids you talk about parent's were happy to be 'Australian', it's their kids' with some disordered sense of 'National' identity of a nation they have never known!

Don't forget, these kids are result of Australias 'White Australia policy'.

When the western suburbs were supported with class sizes of 60 amd the eastern suburbs class sizes of 30, plus remidial programs - where is the equal opportunity?

It's all about opportunity, back anyone into a corner and they will come out fighting.

What about equalising opportunity?

I do agree with (I think) your premise however, that there should be no difference in opportunity. Unfortunately there is.

Nothing different than what occurs in the US today. It is not limited to any ethnic group but you will find a large number of people who either describe themselves as their country of origin (or their parents coutry of origin) or if they have been here for a couple of generations they will describe themselves as a hyphenated-american. It is becoming more and more the exception for people to say 'I am an american'. I have descibed this phenomenon as the viligisation of America (or society if you prefer). People now consider themselves members of a small community or villiage instead of members of the country (or society) as a whole.

For all you Bush haters, look at the bright side, it's only two more years you have to be stuck with him. After that, I honestly have no idea who is going to be our next president. Some think Hillary will be, well, as long as she speaks the simply English instead of her lawyer language, she might have a chance. But some think because of her temper and anger, no dice for her. who knows?

Or, essentially, as members of their tribe. As American nationalism becomes unpopular and/or unfashionable, tribalism ultimately takes its place.

"viligisation"? I'm gonna have to look that up... [;)]

Hillary will not be on the democratic ticket. The democratic base does not support her.

I guess you can get away with anything without question behind the guise of patriotism. Sad. Cannot even discuss other possibilities without hyperbole and imaginary, until made real, lines being drawn. The lack of genuine education in this country will be the largest downfall.
Please explain to me how not agreeing with you is the same as being uneducated.

Thank you,

Bot
Clearly you are too uneducated to understand. It can not be explained to someone of your level. Please move to ************ (I would tell you where but then I would have to kill you. Can't have the unwashed like yourself finding out) utopian society for your proper indoctrination.
If you have to ask...

Like I said, one can reasonably discusss the tenets of National Socialism, or Italian Fascism, and compare them to today's GOP far right wing, and it's leader, Mr. Bush, and find not just similarities, but a more modernized, 21st Century Fascist ideaology - it's all there dude- the supremcy of the corporation and the state over the individual, the concept of endless war and "struggle" against some nebulous, hard to define enemy that requires a continual sacrifice of rights; the supremecy of political ideaology over science, where science must fit the ideaolgy and not vice versa, the subordination of the national economy to end less war, the claim of a right of "pre-emptive" invasion, and lately and most omniously, the claim by The Leader that he is above the law in matters of "national security", that he make break the law in the name of "protecting the Fatherland" - in other the words, the creation of a state where rule of men supercedes rule of law. Yes my friend, denial.

Are you living in North Korea? Because I think you're confused as to which country you reside.
I'm sure you're ok with this country becoming a neo-Nazi state.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I don't see who they have as an alternative. Ic McCain switches parties, maybe.
