I predict it will not be long before the socialists on this board recommend taking some amount of that profit as "excessive"--as if the company is run for the public benefit.
How many of you have "excess" cash in your pockets?--Please email me and I will arrange for its pick up.
This government currently operates at the worst deficit in history, while corporations are posting profits like this and now pay little in taxes. I think I would call this "stealing".
Congress & the Pres are the one stealing. There is something called fiscal responsibility. Something the gov't knows nothing about.

I wish I owned stock in it. I have all mine in horse harness futures. You just wait until the oil collapse, then you'll see who's right!

Sure the mergers made it more expensive. Two company cultures clashing and fighting to keep their positions. They should stick to Washington and help expand alternative energy.

Amazing that some lost souls/consumers still are on the side of big oil/corporations. Balance is nowhere to be seen. Gonna take another major recession or fuel shortage to make the masses wise up. Nothing like a brick to the head to get your attention.

"On the side of big oil/corporations"? WTF?
Is there really "a side"? So whose "side" are you on?

I am pro oil. I am also not stupid like everyone else who thinks good times will never end.

Now if you'd excuse me I have to purchase 7 Escalades (one for each day of the week) and a 4500 square foot home that I will be able to afford assuming things remain this way for the next 20 years.

Freude am fahren!

Why is it that oil corps are not allowed to
make a profit from what the market well bear?

Did I ever say it was wrong to make a profit? I said balance, not pure socialism. World record profit while not increasing production to bring the price down on oil, etc. to the consumer is cruel when it affects so many souls.

because the whiners cannot, silly. They make money through government confiscation and redistribution.

Truly a mean little self serving world you see through your jaundiced point of view.
