RE: Vintage Computers!
wow, i remember our primary school had these 086 ibms, cga graphics, and this stupid turtle game where youd enter commands like rt90 and the cursor would rotate 90degrees, then you might say move 10 and it would move ten pixels. You could enter repaeat commands to change colors, go in repeating circles etccc.....
My first err PC, was a 286, 8mhz, 16mhz "turbo", as it was in the day, 4mb Hdd, both floppys, and 512k ram. AdLib sound card (which cost like a million bucks for 4bit sound i think, a VGA card and monitor. Played wicked games like "Stunts" some wierd top view army game, and some early commander keen, jill of the jungle, and other gay shit.
I remember using the telnet, and dialling Monash University and talking to lpeople in the labs. It was like ..."WHOA"....then the usenet came up (and boy does usenet kick ass these days!) and so on, and so forth. 14.4k modems, a 486 DX chip and board with 33mhz!!
Then the pentium 75mhz!! the first 1 meg graphics card, Sound Blaster PRO!! Doom, ahh.......those were the days. Doom on the network at my older bros university. That game fucked me up. Used to play it in the dark at night, couldnt sleep anymore. That hard metal guitar soundtrack....[:p][8D][:D]
