Anyone familiar with the Chevy Impala?

The guy that hit our ML had a 2000 Impala.

I was wondering what that black trim on the bumper is made of?

The guy claims that there is no scratch on his bumper.

Is it possible that he hit our bumper with that black strip, and not have any signs of damage on his car?

Thanks.

uhh i think the black stuff is just some plastic.. im guessing since all GM's are nothing but pieces of plastic crap (minus the vette of course)

i dont know what exact plastic but its probably HDPE high density polyethelyne.. .. or something like that.. let me go look at my mums equinox to see if i can find what kind of plastic is on hers

Thanks. Do you think it would be possible that he hit me, and not have any paint tranfser?

In case he claims that he didn't hit our car; could he just wipe off the paint?

The guy now claims that his car was not scratched. And I'm thinking that he went home and just cleaned the paint off the plastic.
the part that hit you was it painted plastic or just bare grey plastic? if it was the bare grey crap then i think the paint could just be wiped off..

RE: Anyone familiar with the Chevy Impala?

Anyways,
Asian, do you mean this strip?
Most vehicle bumpers today are made from rubber, plastic, light metals, and other resilient materials.
So it is more likely that the bumper of the impala just absorbed, deformed, and then came back into it's original shape.

RE: Anyone familiar with the Chevy Impala?

I guess he could easily polish, hand glaze his the spot to wipe away the paint.
