BMW madman evades, toys with police for hours, crashes

Several online BMW discussion forums were abuzz today with the story of a police chase involving a BMW E90 3-Series. It’s not every day you see a brand new Bimmer in a chase with law enforcement, nor do you often see one get wrecked. But that’s what happened in this chase, which covered many of the major highways in Houston, Texas.

For hours, the BMW out-maneuvered and overpowered the police cars. The chase ended when the E90 driver went the wrong way on a one-way on-ramp and slammed into a car. A woman who was in the Chrysler sedan that got hit jumped out to pounded on the E90 driver’s window, obviously more than a little ticked that this maniac had just crashed into the car that was carrying her baby. Both the woman and her child were taken to hospital for observation, while the person driving the Chrysler was taken away on a stretcher. The driver of the Bimmer surrendered, apparently having suffered no major injuries.

Thanks, D.

What a fast car....ill give bmw a thumbs up w/ that one...

I was staring at the tv and didn't realize I had the caps lock on. Oh well.

Houston? I wonder if they were Katrina refugees.

At least the woman had the sense to use a "child safety seat" for her baby, in the back seat. Kept this from being a tragedy.

It's always a BMW that's in these chase videos.

Last big video was a 240 hp older M3 and a young kid.

Really says something about the ultimate driving experience.

Sebring driver and black car before it were major left line shoulder huggers. Sebring was also tail gating - the reason why the driver couldn't get out of the way - didn't see BMW coming from that tail gating. Probably wondered why the black car did such a sharp manouver.

Either way, those drivers are the type you honk at for nearly crossing the line or riding the line on the freeway.

Not the most cautious driving technique for carrying baby. I know that the you don't expect to have a BMW coming in the opposite direction in the service shoulder, but you drive to expect the unexpected and the Sebring was not driving in such a way.

I was going to laugh my ass off if the cops busted the driver in the white pickup. What a dumb ass.
