Remember "Iraq Reconstruction"? Cancelled, after US right wing dumps 18 billion down this rathole

Remember all the Bush supporters, especially Mr. Guage, and mikemover over at MB Shop, who chorlted about all the "good work" we were doing in Iraq? Well, we quit building new shithouses for Iraqis because the war turned out to be 10m times more than we bargained for, so all the money went for sand bags and armor. What a freaking disaster. 18 billion dollars down a fucking toilet, and trillions more to follow:

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

RE: Remember "Iraq Reconstruction"? Cancelled, after US right wing dumps 18 billion down this rathol

You are correct nothing has been built or rebuilt in Iraq:

Base Camp Adder (Ali Base) Iraq - Clean, potable drinking water soon will be available to more than 200 families living in small communities from Al Basheer to Immam Akare in Wassit Province, just southeast of Baghdad. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) built a water pipe system to bring water to families that have never had running water in their villages, much less in their homes.

MOSUL, Iraq, Dec. 30, 2005 — Reconstruction of Iraq includes more than the restoration of dilapidated infrastructure. In this case, it includes hazardous waste clean up.

MOSUL, Iraq, Jan. 9, 2005 — The city of Kirkuk will soon benefit from the construction of the Kirkuk Main Substation 11 kilovolt feeder cable.

Mosul, Iraq- More than 15 new well projects have been completed in villages within the Ninawa Province. These wells provide pure drinking water for more than 12,600 Iraqis. The completed wells are part of 44 wells started in the early fall, and make a considerable contribution to the health and well-being of many small communities.

Within the last several months, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gulf Region Division reworked more than 80 kilometers of road and, in the next several weeks, an additional 120 kilometers of hard surface roads will be added. The Tameen road segment, one of 17 road projects, has improved mobility for 30,000 people in three villages and the surrounding area

A TOWN IN ANBAR PROVINCE, Iraq, Dec. 9, 2005 – Reconstruction is now evident here, due to the improved security environment that followed the November 2004 battle for Fallujah.

Canal Projects Deliver Water, Self-sufficiency
Work to ensure the Sweet Water Canal water quality and reliability also
provides local Iraqis the tools necessary to maintain this resource.

TALLIL, Iraq, Dec. 1, 2005 — Workers have modernized 28 railroad stations in the Iraq's southern provinces, starting at Iskandariyah Station in Northern Babil, just south of Baghdad, and reaching south into Thi-Qar province.

CAMP ECHO, Iraq, Nov. 28, 2005 — Multinational Division Central-South soldiers and local authorities opened a new water plant for al Husain village near Afak (30 km east of Ad Diwaniyah) Nov. 23.
The new facility provides potable water to about 3,000 local citizens.

Mosul, Iraq - Over three hundred residents receive fresh water from another water network completion in Baquba.

Mosul, Iraq - The Baqubah Directorate General of Water, the Ministry of Interior, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) worked diligently to complete a water and sewer system that will benefit 4,280 Iraqi homes. The project included designing and building a water supply and sewer distribution system in Baqubah, the provincial seat of Diyala.

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Oct. 21, 2005 — A new $4.9 million electrical substation will provide approximately 20,000 Iraqis in the southwestern portion of Babil an increase in power reliability. The substation, completed in early October, replaces an existing facility.

MOSUL, Iraq, Oct. 12, 2005 — School days are here and Sulayminyah school renovations are nearing completion.
Seven out of ten schools renovated in the Sulayminyah district are complete. The other three are ninety percent finished and will be ready for business by Oct. 15. The $354.441 million projects will benefit 6,000 students and employ 325 local teachers and headmasters from this northern Iraq province thus protecting the future advancement of its children.

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 30, 2005 — A substation expansion project in Mosul will increase the existing capacity of the 400 kV Mosul substation to allow for an additional 400 kV transmission line between Mosul and Baghdad. The Mosul substation expansion is a critical, electric grid system element to increase the amount of available power to the entire country. The expansion provides the capacity to distribute power more reliably, thereby affecting six million people.

There are many, many other examples of the work that has been completed.

The good news for us is that all the gloom & doom
stuff you post turns out be total a farce.
Everything you predict has been wrong.

People dying happens every day, all over the world.

I hate it for that Female Reporter but if you are going to go over there as a free lance journalist you just have to accept you are risking your life.

I think one of his multiple personalities is here under the guise of GMISBEST.

All that stuff you cited has probably been blown up by now. Nothing like declaring a war over when it's just getting started.

Tell me, what have I predicted that has been wrong? Half a dozen of us here predicted the WMDs were a crock before Bush ever admitted it. We have been pointing out that this war had years, not months to go. What else you got? Tell me, how did y'alls prediction that we would be welcomed as liberators turn out? The end of "Reconstruction" is just another chapter in a foolish story.

KV, all I can say is I am at lost of words!!! There are still people out there think this focking war is justifiable. No wonder the sorry state this country has sunken into.

Just wait until the inflation hits. Even the cronies who blindly follow W will quietly turn away when they see their standard of living decrease.
