Otto Rank's theory was that Jews bring it upon themselves, but quite accidently. Jews have a cultural history of hoarding gold and gemstones, simply because a guy who has to get out of town has to have portable forms of wealth - something that happened to them all the time in the pre-Industrial Age.
In the modern capitalist world, that practice and those habits have become handy because it's nice to have a gold stash during cyclical downturns. But that becomes a problem when the downturns are harsh. In Germany, you had people starving and paper money became worthless. You and your kids are eating rotten potatoes, but when you look around, not just one Jew, but all the Jews seem to be doing alright, and not only that, they have the capital to buy up all the goodies for a song. To you, it looks like an organized group who, your frightened little mind tells you, must have conspired to make this catastrophe happen. In reality, they are practicing cultural habits that were ingrained when they had to flee a lot. Now they are staying put, and enjoying the benefits of frugality when regular saps are out of a job on the breadline.
Guys like Hitler (and Edward I of England, who deserves a mention) harness that into political energy. That is the source of the "Jews are behind it all" myth. But there is no denying these practices have made a group of Jews fabulously wealthy, and with wealth comes power, and organized wealth becomes tremendous power. But let's be honest here, compared to the Arab Oil Fascists, they are pipsqueaks.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
