Unlocked AMD 2800 Barton core Athlons overclocked to 3200 . Looking at dual processors which means new mobo's which means new graphics cards which means......fuggetaboutit!
get the quad g5[:D]

digital optical audio out to your favorite surround system, video to a projector. it can handle a 30" hi definition display if you want a desktop to end all desktops, thats your MoC.

mmm dual dual g5

*makes homer simpson noise*
I've learned my lesson to stay one step behind on computer technology. That's where all the deals are. Everytime I put the latest peripheral in, I got bragging rights for a week and then something better came along. I'd like to switch to Mac's at some point but I've had Windows before they put the glass in.[:)]

RE: AMD or Intel?

have fun with those AMD's you'll probably have to buy a new one in 2 years.. the people over at AMD run those things higher than they are engineered for which is why they always run hotter than intel chips.... just make sure the chip doesnt go over 185F and youwont be guaranteed a hole in your motherboard

Thry run hotter but faster. The older ones were unlocked so you could o/c them. In two years any chip is only good for picking your teeth.

What programs are you guys using that you need these fast chips for? Most people who buy the latest and greatest stuff i ask them so what do you use your computer for and 9/10 times they just use the computer for word processing, email, internet. Heck 2 years ago my personal computer was a powerbookG3 that was 6 years old running at 233mhz with 128mb ram and it did all that just fine. in todays computers for basic computing you cant tell a difference in a 2ghz computer and a 3ghz computer unless you are doing video editing and rendering which is an intensive task and most people dont do that.

RE: AMD or Intel?

Up until a while ago I was on several Raven Shield & Counterstrike clans. But it's really all about benchmarking and just pushing it to the limits.

Back in the day before valve came and took over couterstrike was great. It worked great on my P4 2ghz with 128mb graphics card and yes people built faster computers for bragging rights, i even knew a kid i used to go to HS with that built his own 64 bit AMD computer and spent $600 on a graphics card and i told him that having a 64bit chip was a waste of money since it wont make it run any faster. not to mention his fiber optic sound card that was capable of 7.1 surround sound that was useless i have still yet to see anything in 7.1 movies/audio ect. what sad is he spent around 5grand on the computer just for couterstrike, and he spends hours everyday playing that game. society has failed when i have kids i hope i can spend time with them so they dont end up playing computer games 24/7. i know personally i havent played computer games for 2 years now and i havent played my PS2 in a year and a half.
