I <3 USA rules for driving now...should be interesting to drive when Im in England..

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Using a handheld 'phone (handsfree is OK) is a $250 fine.

Having an open bottle/can of alcohol in the car (unless you have a passenger) is a $250 fine - even if you are not holding it.

If mr plod see's you are eating or drinking anything else and feels you are not 'driving with due care and attention' its a $250 fine.

Up to 10kph over the posted limit - $130 fine, 10-20kph over the limit - $250 fine, over that - loss of licence for 3 months and a $360 fine.

I could go on....

It was like that in St. Thomas, the wheel was on the left side too, just driving on the opposite side....

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

RE: What is it about cup holders?

must be scary at first.

My brother once made a trip through England with his 190. He said he cannot count the times he was on the wrong side. You only notice somethings wrong when somethings comming opposite direction.

This may be a dumb question, but.... what is it with you Americans and cup holders?

I keep reading threads where posters bemoan the fact their car has no cup holders. Like they were the beall and endall of motoring refinement.

What on earth do people need cup holders for?

You want a drink - you stop and have one.

Your passengers want a drink - well they haven't got to hold on to a steering wheel so whats their hands for?

I do bemoan the lack of an ice bucket to keep the champers cold. [;)]
My first comment is - who the hell would take the time to stop, get out, and sit around until they finish their drink if they are thirsty? Not enough time for that.

Second comment is I agree with you 99% of the time. I pretty much have a rule of no drinking or eating in the car. The only exception being long trips.

I spent years routinely switching sides driving. In all that time,I only ever fucked up once when I was on holiday in the Fatherland.I was with my wife and two friends and we got up really early to go someplace,Munich I think.Anyway,it was dark when we left the hotel and as I exited the car park I just automatically started to drive on the left.Probably gone about 1/2 mile before we encountered oncoming traffic near a bend.Never did that again![xx(]
