"Lame Duck" Nasdaq hits 4.5 year high. Russell 2000 hits historic high.

Dow may have been fairly flat but other indexes are showing nice growth.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended their gains on Friday, pushing the Nasdaq index above 2,300 for the first time since May 2001, with rival Internet search companies Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. leading the way.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 73.40 points, or 0.67 percent, at 10,955.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 11.07 points, or 0.87 percent, at 1,284.55. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 26.66 points, or 1.17 percent, at 2,303.53.

Oh my God, that's horrible, cataclysmic news. each market should have been up 25% at least. It's all Bush's fault, the bastard.

I've been hearing that the real estate bubble is going to pop for so long now I can't remember the first time I heard it.

Sure there will be some correction at least in those areas that are over heated. But I would not expect anything like the dot com bust.

The biggest danger to the housing market is raising interst rates. Especially for all those people with adjustable rate mortgages on houses they can barely afford. But good news the fed has indicated that the increases in interest rates are done for now.

It's inevitable at this rate and soon.I by no means want it to happen but let's be realistic. My house value has almost doubled in the past 4 years which is great and also at the same time is not seeing my property taxes are going up as well.

Good for you. Where I live people are being hit by huge property tax increases. I know people that have had their bill go up more than 50% in a year.
