Economic Forecast for the New Year

Economists, along with weather forecasters, keep their jobs even as they routinely fail at them.

My perception of the consensus among economic wizards is that 2006 will be a lukewarm version of 2005. That is, general growth; only less of it. In the U.S., maybe a hair over 3% expansion for the year. Much more in Asia, of course.

I'm inclined to agree with this consensus. Anyone else care to step out on a limb?

"The lopsided trade relationship between China and the United States will likely re-emerge as the decisive factor in the value of the dollar."

I agree with the forecast.

The inverted something or other will be great to the economy.
