New movie "Munich". Don't bother. It was advertised as Steven Spielbergs "best work". Not even close...
It was also advertised as an "intelligent thriller".
Hmm...? It was predictible, not very well written and not many thrills. The squad of "revenge killers" come off as stupid and bungling most of the time. They used intelligence sources that compromised their safety and none of the squad were "experts" in their fields.
The only surprise for me in the movie was that I expected it to take a pro Isreal stance. It didn't. In the end the main character realized that Isreal was just as blood thirsty as the Arabs, and that they considered him to be a terrorist in every respect as bad as the ones he was killing. This pissed off some Jews that were sitting near us in the theater.
Two and a half hours and $8.00 wasted on this dud.[:I][:D]
Hey, starcar, thanks for the heads-up on Munich. That was on my list, now I'll wait for the video; it might be worth a netflix rental. :)
Here's some excellent movies I've recently seen: March of the Penguins Chronicles of Narnia (excellent story, well done all around, don't let the religious adoptionists scare you off this one) Good Night, and Good Luck
On DVD I also caught Timeline, which was an underrated flick, the special features are pretty good, too. The book (Crichton) was of course much better, but that's always the case with his stuff. If you need a mindless comedy, Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle is good for several laughs and some excellent bits.
The resiliency of life -- and it's fragility and adaptability to some stunningly harsh conditions. Plus the fact that is beautifully filmed with narration by Morgan Freeman. And it's family friendly, which is important to most folks with kids.

But there is a good plot to it?
I didnt know there was any speaking in it, but w/ Morgan Freeman, I really like him...
