how many bits in a volkswagen?

im out and in today, my goal is to hear the vw run.

to do that i need to install the wiring harness, hook it all up, instal the pedal/brake cylinder assembly, install the steering wheel and rig up the seat and parking brakes.

think i can do it?[:D] imma try if nothin else!

how many pieces do youall think are in this car? its kind of a 2/3 scale model of a real car. so very novel!

happy day[:)]

Remember to keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

We need pictures (not necessarily of the ensuing fire).

Neon, are you seriously building a 2/3 scale replica of a VW?

Sorry but I came in late. Is this for real?

RE: how many bits in a volkswagen?

no no, the vw is a genuine article, the joke/observation was that the beetle has so few pieces as compared to other 'normal' sized cars.

Oh thanks, otherwise I definitely DID want to see photos.

RE: how many bits in a volkswagen?

the first few are a test-- any of youall know if i have this wire loom in backwards?[:I]

the rest are all the problem areas ill have to address before paint and interior work.

i dont mean to step on toes or anything BUT-- you folks are so much cooler than all those so-cali vw folks. theyre unhelpful, to say it nicely. this is an attempt to keep a logbook on the project and i will post new information and images when a project is completed.

maybe i am weird, but i find it easier to keep tabs online easier than in reality. my life is one jumble of papers, projects and writings and in the computer i have a little control.

so the wait is over-- ive posted a few of these here before but ill ignore that since new interest has been shown=)

lots of images. all advice welcomed and encouraged! i am a little upside down in such a large project. i only tried this once before, on a 1969 1600tl, boy was that a mess! type 1s are much easier than that, though!

So, did you get it running then? And what about those floor pans, you were considering diy welding. Paint? Come on, man, come on, let's see some progress.
