wow, a bit surprised that the guy didn't file suit against the university.. that's just blatant violation of many of the guys rights as a citizen of USA...

Free speech has its limits, whether you think so or not. The framers of our constitution tried to protect us against undue censorship, but their intent was not to allow anyone to say whatever he wanted, wherever he wanted. Maybe you do have the "right " to yell, "c***sucker" in the middle of a church service... That does not make it proper use of free speech. Perhaps you think you have the right to yell "fire" in a crowded theatre? The exercise of free speech comes with consequences, and great responsibility. I encourage anyone to practice it, but realize the responsibility and consequences there of...
I applaud the young Khan for standing his ground; however, I chock it up to the wrong execution of the right idea.

While Khan should have every right to protest recruitment, it seems a bit presumptuous, especially for someone of Iranian heritage, to lash out against the very organization that secures his freedom. Sounds like an ingrate to me.
He is not of Iranian heritage, not that it matters.
And his point, which is quite valid, is that the "organization" is doing anything and everything BUT securing anyone's freedom.
No one blames the troops, they're just doing their duty (mostly). But blame the corrupt politicians who give them their marching orders. And by attempting to have his say, THAT's what this young man was trying to do.

The soldiers I've spoken to believe they are doing the right thing which makes them equally culpable imho. Nobody likes war and bloodshed but this world aint' ready for peace and love just yet. Would you suggest we disband the military altogether?

The soldiers I've spoken to? Some believe in it, some don't. Same as the rest of us.
No one has suggested disbanding the military altogether. However I'd suggest not using it carelessly in counterproductive ventures, for a start. Agreed?
