It's called Christmas for a reason. If you don't like to celebrate Christmas then don't, but don't call it something else...
Merry Christmas and happy new year...
Whoah! There are over 2,000 religious affilliations recognized worldwide. To suggest for a fleeting moment that "Christianity" and the celebration of "Christmas" is the end all, be all, is rather myopic in my view.

Open up your mind....you might just have the distinction of crossing the path of someone who may enlighten you with their experiences.
[?][?][?][8][B)]

I thought it WAS called CHRISTmas to celebrate the birth of CHRIST. Did I miss something? What you said is like going to... oh, say, Lou Ferrigno's b-day party and telling other guest to "Open up your mind....you might just have the distinction of crossing the path of someone who may enlighten you with their experiences of other bodybuilders birthdays." Or, on Cinco de Mayo, saying, "Open up your mind....you might just have the distinction of crossing the path of someone who may enlighten you with their experiences of the OTHER days of May"

No. THIS day is about Christ. Period. Rudedude never said "end all, be all". or no one else matters. Yep, just re-read his post. Don't see it. You don't either, (or at least, you shouldn't). In fact, ALL are welcome to join in and celebrate. Just not change it. On the OTHER religion's days, we'll celebrate the OTHER religions.

With that said, I got my W140 a tranny flush and Euro clears[^].
Holy Crap, I totally agree with Ackvig (didnt see that one either eh God?). Its Christmas. So Merry Christmas!!

My benz is getting a rest, 2 1/2 weeks of no work, just a service, a wax and a car cover and lock up for the break while im in Melbourne.

KEEP SAFE PEOPLE!![:D]

Cheers,

RE: happy hanuramakwanzamas!

However the US gov't forces us to celebrate all our december holidays on the same day, so i guess we either quit our jobs or we give in and celebrate it all on the same day.

They DO? I didn't see US troops detain the waitress who "rebeled" and worked at Waffle House on that day, nor shut down the establishment for being open. Plus, if you think that's bad, wait 'til you see what the e-vil powers that be have in store for April Fool's day. The MAN maks us obseve that every April 1st, you know. Strange how the US Gov't can also FORCE even other countries to celebrate the day for hundreds of years prior.

"Unfortunately, the Bible does not mention date for his birth (a fact Puritans later pointed out in order to deny the legitimacy of the celebration). Although some evidence suggests that his birth may have occurred in the spring (why would shepherds be herding in the middle of winter?), Pope Julius I chose December 25. It is commonly believed that the church chose this date in an effort to adopt and absorb the traditions of the pagan Saturnalia festival. First called the Feast of the Nativity, the custom spread to Egypt by 432 and to England by the end of the sixth century. By the end of the eighth century, the celebration of Christmas had spread all the way to Scandinavia. Today, in the Greek and Russian orthodox churches, Christmas is celebrated 13 days after the 25th, which is also referred to as the Epiphany or Three Kings Day. This is the day it is believed that the three wise men finally found Jesus in the manger." http://www.historychannel.com/exhibits/holidays/christmas/real2.html

"Happy Holidays" to you.

RE: happy hanuramakwanzamas!

A little late, but happy holidays everyone!

Every religious holiday be it christian, catholic, muslim etc has a rich history behind it. All i will say on the celebration of Christmas in this thread is arguing about religion is much the same as arguing about politics. No matter how much talking is done, people's opinions seldom change.

Besides that hoping everyone has a fantastic new years and in the words of Rick James(dave chappelle) "Its a celebration bitch!"

Chris :)

RE: happy hanuramakwanzamas!

Sure, by making December 25th and official holiday for business(or 26th depending on what day 25 falls on) it forces us to adapt our schedules.
