SW USA

talk to me.. what's there that i shouldn't miss...

thinking of taking a little trip this winter out that way.. possible destination is Baja but would spend time in NM, AZ, maybe a bit of CA, S CO and S UT... and it looks like OK too.. i'll either be coming from SL or Memphis... haven't been to the latter ever and only drove through SL once..

i have never been in that part of the country so mention everything please... links are also very welcome :D if i do it i will do it in my 4x4 so definatly mention places where i can take full advantage of it..

ok, that's enough to start...

thanks

Painted Desert (on 'shrooms if you can manage)
Petrified Forest (on Peyote if you can find it
Manmouth Caverns (biggest tourist clip joint ever but amazing none the less).

Arizona - The Grand Canyon (indescribable)
It's particularly indescribable in the winter because of the ice glazing over your eyes.

If you want to check out a cave, pay a visit to Kartchner Caverns -- you'll never see anything like it in your life.

RE: SW USA

If your coming to AZ stay in scottsdale for a night and then drive up to sodona and visit the red rocks then make your way up to the grand canyon. at this time of year up north in AZ will be cold and you might get some snow. I have family that lives in NM and personally i cant stand to the visit NM nothing to do after you have seen the sights. where as in AZ you can get good food and go shopping. Personally i would spend the most time in CA then go over to AZ for a few days and skip NM and Baja, reason i would skip Baja mexico isnt really safe it never was and never will be.

RE: SW USA

Best road trip I ever took was down old route 66 from beginning to end (Chicago to LA). Most memorable, we didn't argue once the entire trip. If you attempt this I suggest a rental because you'll be beat and flying back was such a nice change of pace.

Lots -- come back in the spring or summer.
