Suggestions for a new work mobile

Well it's getting hard to do mobile detailing out of my w126, so I'm open to any suggestions for a work mobile. It's just impratical to have a generator in the back seat of a w126. So far I'm thinking either a w123/w124 wagon and stripping everything out past the two front seats, or do the same thing but with a nice Volvo wagon. Or a Volkswagen Vanagon, that may work. Any input or anything would be nice. Main thing is, it's gotta have space, it's gotta get somewhat good milage (compared to say, a ford cargo van with a 351). No pickups (although I've been eyeing a neighbors VW rabbit pickup...), no suv's. I'm trying to keep it interesting.

I think you can't go wrong with a 124 wagon

For a while now I've had the idea myself for a mobile detailing business, a W124 TE was the first vehicle to pop into my head as an on the job car, even after investigating other possibly suitable cars, I'm back to the TE

This a bit off-topic from your post. I think a mobile detailing service is awesome. I wish we had something like that around here. How much do you charge for the service? Just curious.

RE: Suggestions for a new work mobile

Is the rear cargo area in a Benz wagon gonna give you enough room for your equipment? If so, then I say go for one of those.

As for Volvo wagons, a friend had one years ago, and it served him well enough. Its not something that I would own though.

A rabbit pick-up would be way kewl if you put it on an AWD Audi chassis.

Vanagons are ok. Look for a model that has the water cooled engine though. They can be a bit squirrely in the winter.

RE: Suggestions for a new work mobile

I been doing mobile detailing full time for about 5 years now. I have a Ford F150 van I detail out of and it still seem to small. I guess someday I get a small box van to replace my van.

I second the TE. Practical, yet handsome...

Yes, a TE may end up being a bit too small but, I'd still want one
It's been suggested to me, I should get a Toyota/Scion bB, which I don't mind...but I guess that would be too small also
At least a bB would make a good canvas for advertising your business

...dare I post a pic of a Toyota?...no, better not
