I have a question. Lets say somebody is pulling out of a parking stop and you stop and let them go. Shouldn't they give a wave saying thank you or something? This happens to me all the time. I dont get a wave, and it really pisses me off. Nobody does it. I dont let anybody go anymore because I know Im not going to get a wave. Does this bother anybody like it does me?

If you do good deeds for appreciation, good man be disappointed!- Confucious
Well here isa sure way to get a reponse. Go ahead and allow someone to pull out then give them the finger, I am certain that you will be acknowledged...
Sort of like that

RE: Courtesy wave.
Yes, I pity those who cannot reciprocate. It could be geography specific. I don't know much about general manners concerning driving where you live (just past Rockaways, I presume), but here are my experiences.
In the generally genteel Westchester County, people are mostly courteous - most of them wave back or flash the light. Although more congested areas south of I-287 and towns along I-95, that's another different story.
When I used to live in northern New Jersey as well as Philadelphia, only a handful bothered to acknowledge the courtesy. In New Jersey, an oncoming car trying to make a left turn at the traffic light will try to cut you off as soon as the light turns green.
I, for one, make sure that I return the courtesy by waving back - small gesture goes a long way in preventing any potential road rage incidents.
You're lucky! In the rural areas here (about 80% of the state) you are expected to acknowledge any car that passes with the 'Two fingers off the steering wheel and head tilt' combo. This can get very tiring and if you are distracted and forget the wave/head tilt you are sure to find a cross burned in your front yard later that day.
Seriously, take Shabah's advice--the one finger wave gets a lot of attention. Especially if you shout 'stupid prick' at the same time.[:)]
I saw this thing on QVC a long time ago. It's like an LED message board. You can put it in the back of your car. Then like say you have a situation like yours, and you want to say thanks or something. The control;er has preset messages like "Thank you" "Your welcome" or "Sorry". You press the button that you want and those words pop up.
