Can you say Midnight Express????
That movie reminds me of a Firesign Theater record.

The skit with the repeated phrase, "May I see your passport, please?"

Whoa.

You got your asbestos undies on? I have my flamethrower around here somewhere. I'm gonna give you a squirt of US Constitutional protection of political speech and let others bathe you in the fire of homophobia.

B
I understand free speech and I am all for it. but is nothing sacred? I mean I believe that too many people take our freedom for granted. erstwhile I'm not a biblethumper just patriotic and have to beleive that people that are anti american have deep seated queerism ( made up queerism ).ha ha

I respect everyones opinion as long as it is like mine. ( that too is a joke)

as for homophobia not really. ok a little
The sacred is for worship. That's for church.

Is it worse to destroy the symbol of free speech, the flag, or to destroy free speech itself?

Bot
Again, I am for free speech. as a law abiding citizen I beleive people should question authority, however there has to be structure to a functioning socity. break the LAW go to jail, demonize the socity, neh, the community in which you live, and risk chaos. I feel it is truly disrespectful to Burn an American flag, and do not, and hope others do not view this as an infringemnet upon free speech, merely respect for the greatest country in the free world.
I am proud to be able to take part in an exchange with others that have similar interest on BW and be able to say fuck, shit & damn without fear of retribution. God Bless America!

Oh yeah MERRY CHRISTMAS!

RE: WHY?

If you like free speech so much, why do you want to get rid of it? Eh? I could hear a pin drop. Free speech means just that, free to say whatever and to tune in or out the same. Live and let live I say. Only I draw the line at haters. They refuse to live and let live, so thsy must be eradicated for a peaceful society to live. Ironic no?

You must become one to destroy one. Where have I heard this before recently?

RE: WHY?

I don't agree with burning the American Flag in protest (there are ceremonies to dispose of damaged American flags that involve fire). I think there are some lines that should not be crossed. But we are guarnteed freedom of speech and it is a slippery slope if you start legislating what people can and can't say.

So while I might not agree with people burining the flag I do agree that it is their right to exercise their freedom of speech and if they so chose to burn the flag well I don't have to like it but they are free to do so.

Point taken... How about burning Afghan bodies? I did not see a ceromony there when the soldiers used the burning to taunt the locals...
It amazes me how people set their values...
